Also, I'd try a different brand of tobacco, Al Fahker is pretty standard (and delicious), although i think the Nakhla Mizo line is really easy for heat management (and maybe even more delicious IMO).

Prob gettin a headache if you don't let the coals light throughly enough and/or you're burning the tobacco. Try makin sure the coals are all grayed over and placing em on the edge of the bowl and slowly moving em in a circle as the session goes on. Also, maybe try 2 sheets of foil or investing in a windcover.
