I really would not discount the bagassosis (fibrosis caused from the bagasse) because you arent in the factory. You are directly inhaling straight from the bagasse here.
Bagasse, honey, and glycerine are not the same, so comparing them would be a mistake. Fibrosis can be caused by the pulp and the dust of the bagasse itself which is made up of a variety of compounds.
As Kal said, all smoking is bad for you, the reason I bring the fibrosis up is because of the fact that "herbal" is advertised by many as well as believed by many to be a safer alternative when it is not.
Both tobacco and bagasse result in smoke in your lungs. The smoke is bad enough.
Inhaling bagasse is linked to fibrosis, so why wouldn't sucking a hose connected to a bowl of it make you think you are at risk?
In a factory workers are forced to weak masks, and the air is full of a loose dust.
In a hookah, you are drying the wet matter and breaking it up slightly and directly inhaling it directly.

So that's the health part, the other bit is that it doesnt taste as good, it has a different body, and is not enjoyable.
I'll always list fibrosis as a con until there is a study that says when heating it up, drying it out, into small particles and dust does not actually cause fibrosis and the only way to get it is working at the factory.
