Top Three Khalil Mamoon Hookahs

Khalil Mamoon hookahs are known for their beautiful appearance and great functionality. When choosing a KM you can choose the hookah that think looks the best because almost all of them are designed to smoke the same way. A very open draw and smooth purge. One of my favorite looking hookahs is the Khalil Mamoon [...] Related posts:

  • When it come down to what I would buy if prices were flipped... It would probably still be both Starbuzz and Nakhla. I only smoke when in the company of my friends. Some prefer a mellow smoke of Starbuzz, and others prefer the traditional flavor of Nakhla. I happen to enjoy both. If the prices were switched I'd probably be buying more Starbuzz because I'm broke... but I still would be getting some nakhla. If Al Fakher remained the same price, the upped nakhla price wouldn't be so bad because I normally mix AF and nakhla in my bowl.

is money the only factor or not?

  • I recently purchased some KM Pears for use at my lounge and was really let down by them in general. The way people on the forum talk about KM's you'd think that with every pull an angel gets it's wings. But I honestly don't understand the hype. Here are my thoughts.

Looks - KM's seem to be very traditional hookahs with very traditional looks. They look hand-made and hand painted. If this is something that appeals to you, a KM would be a good choice. However, they kind of have a very unrefined look to them, IMO. The only other hookahs I have owned have been MYA hookahs. Sure, these are probably made at some factory by machines, but the look is very refined and highly polished. I find that a bit more appealing.

Build Quality - Due to the hand-made-ness of KM's I really question their quality. Usually, hand-made translates into a higher quality product. KM's however seem to be a guessing game of which hookah will have which flaw. We got ten Pears and out of the ones we opened, not one of them was without a flaw. One had a crooked base which made the entire stem sit crooked and lean. Another had a chip in the
Smoke - For a test, we set up a KM Pear next to a MYA QT at the lounge, both with phunnels, both packed the same with the same shisha. Keep in mind, you could stack three QT's up on top of one another and they still wouldn't be as tall as the Pear. When we started smoking, the only positive difference I noticed on the KM was the smoke was a tad cooler. Other than that, the draw was the same, the smoke was the same, but one thing I noticed was the KM was much, much louder. It's like the phunnel was acting as a loudspeaker for the bubbling in the base. It was way louder than the QT making it seem like the QT was actually smoother.

Ease of Use - MYA's are notoriously convenient since they break down into multiple pieces allowing for easy cleaning. Friends of mine who have KM's have to take them in the shower with them since that's the only way they can clean them. It seems rather ridiculous. Also, with a hookah that tall and the build quality lacking on some of them, there seem to be major stability issues.

In the end, I recognize I have only been exposed to a couple different KM and MYA models. However, based on this experience, these are my thoughts. The only reason I could imagine why someone would buy a KM over a MYA would be if they just wanted something traditional and that was their only concern. Personally, I'm considering selling off all but two of the KM's down at the lounge and replacing them with slightly smaller MYA's.

Keep in mind, this is all IMO. I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes. Also, I have no experience with AF and MZ hookahs to compare to." title="Mya Vs Km" />

One had a crooked base which made the entire stem sit crooked and lean. Another had a chip in the "pear" on the stem. When customers point this stuff out, I just explain that these are hand-made and much like something that would be bought at a bazaar somewhere in the Middle East. With Mya's, on the other hand, I have never seen a flaw that I have not introduced myself. Again, they are much more refined and polished than the KM's.

Smoke - For a test, we set up a KM Pear next to a MYA QT at the lounge, both with phunnels, both packed the same with the same shisha. • Hi guys, got a little question for you. I recently got about 500 grams of non brand tobacco as a gift from Turkey. Now i split it into 2 batches of 250 in old nakhla cans. The first 250 is almost smoked up, but i noticed the smell and the flavour got less strong in the later bowls (smoke still good). I was wondering if it would help or hurt the flavour if i tried acclimating some of the rest of the tobacco, since i don't want to waste any i thought i'd ask. It's quite coarsely cut and about Nakhla wetness. I assume it's unwashed since it's home made stuff. Could it also be a storage problem? I'd think it'd be ok in nakhla cans with an undamaged lid. Thanks in advance guys.

    Nak’s Orange Wont Smoke…

    hey all,

    i gunna need some help.
its been awhile since i set myself up a bowl as my hookah was broke, but i finally got my spare back from a mate of mine.

why is it when women bat their baby blues at men, we fold?

anyways, got it back last night after a month and half, and preped a bowl of naks orange. so, i poked the holes in my usual way, got my red hot coal (jap silver) put it on my bowl and started to smoke. smoke was real thin, like ciggy thin, but it tickled the back of my throat. i thought to myself, its just warming up, it'll fix itself in a bit.

so, i carried on watching Star Wars - episode 4, taking a toke every half minute or so. next thing i know, its been 30 minutes, coals half gone, smoke still uber thin, and my throat is FUBARed, and i'm like ?WTF?
because of the tickle, i thought i'd burnt it, but then thought thin smoke.
hit pause, took the foil off, and it looks normal. ie, most of the top layer crispy, then fine underneath. baffled, i called it a bad day, switched everything off, and went to sleep.

tried again today and still, no joy. i know i'm abit rusty, but not that much.

Naks cherry worked fine in the very same setup. same hookah, bowl and hole pattern.
i know Nak likes more heat, but i dunno, cherry was fine with 1 jap silver... why not orange?

does anyone know if naks orange needs more heat then others? i ask cos the tickle thing has me baffled to the point i cant even fin watching Star Wars.

For the Sake Of The Force, Please Help!

May The Buzz Be With You.
