Homemade charcoal alternative

There is an easy way to do this but it may sounds more complicated than it is. You can make your own coals essentially the same way you make charcloth (all the boyscouts out there should know what this is.

1) find wood that you would like to use for your coals.
2) make that wood into sawdust.(easier said than done)
3) mix saw dust with water an compress
4) let dry for 24 hours.
Here I the hard part.
5) find a metal container with a lid (like a cookie tin)
6) build a fire
6.1) preheat oven( this option is not ideal because it will stink up the oven and your house
7) poke a hole in the lid with a nail
8) put tin in fire or oven with lid on and briquettes inside
9) watch the hole on the lid it should start to smoke within the first 20min
10) when smoke stops take the tin out of the fire or oven
11) let sit until it is cool
12) open lid and find you briquettes.

This process is possible because there is no oxygen present in the tin so the briquettes burn and leave behind only carbon

Any questions just ask.
