Burglary in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Assault in the Fourth Degree (5 counts), Menacing, Strangulation, Unlawful Use of a Weapon

Corvallis Police Department Case # 05C00807

At about 1:04am, officers from the Corvallis Police Department responded to the report of a fight at 401 NW 16th St. When officers arrived, they encountered an individual who was bleeding from superficial stab wounds on his back. An investigation of this incident revealed that the subject suffering from the superficial stab wounds had assaulted five people inside the residence. Danny Kavali, became enraged with the occupants of the 16th St. residence when they asked him to leave. Kavali began punching and kicking three men and two women inside. Kavali then used a hookah (water pipe) that was about three feet tall, made of glass and metal, as a weapon. Kavali assaulted one male victims with the hookah when he swung the hookah like a bat and struck the male victim in the back. Kavali also punched and kicked a second male, and menaced him with a lance-like portion of the broken hookah. Kavali was stabbed with a pair of scissors by the second male victim when Kavali tried to attack him with the pointed end of the broken hookah.

The two male victims were treated at Good Samaritan Hospital for injuries sustained in the assault. Kavali was also treated at Good Samaritan Hospital and released to the Benton County Jail. Kavali is currently charged with Burglary in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Assault in the Fourth Degree (5 counts), Menacing, Strangulation, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and harassment.
