Check everywhere that air might get into the system. That includes not only the base grommet, but the bowl and hose grommets, as well. Check to make sure the purge valve is seating correctly. Test your hose to make sure it doesn't have any leaks. Then you can go on to how you prep your bowl. What tobacco you're using, how its packed, what coals you're using, etc.......
